The Public Enterprises Department and the motor industry, represented by the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of SA (Naamsa), have established an industry competitiveness forum with the aim of improving the global competitiveness of the local industry.
Called the State Owned Companies’ Automotive Industry Competitiveness Forum, it aims to achieve this by ensuring that infrastructure capacity and service delivery enhances the competitiveness of the automotive industry and facilitates increased investment in both infrastructure and the automotive cluster.
Malusi Gigaba, the Public Enterprises Minister, said a meeting he had attended yesterday together with top officials from his department, Transnet, Eskom and automotive industry leaders had discussed the scope and terms of reference of the forum, agreed on the work plan and established the forum.
