SAAW Project Director, Andrew Binning has welcomed the participation of the Industrial Development Corporation.
The Industrial Development Corporation’s (IDC) Metals Business Unit provides funding to start-up, existing and expanding business in the sector.
Funding of more than R1.5 billion has been committed during the 2011/2012 financial year creating more than 7 000 jobs. Since the start of the economic downturn, the IDCs SBU has saved more than 40 companies from liquidation with the majority being in the automotive sector.
Focus areas for funding are:
- Fabricated metals, capital and transport equipment, SOE Capex and Opex
- Automotive assembly and components
- Green energy and energy-saving technologies
- Advanced material, nuclear and aerospace components
