Making sense of training apprentices and how to determine this Return on Investment (ROI). Dr Paul Spear and Herbert Lonsdale from the Institute for the Motor Industry United Kingdom addressed members at the RMI National Council meeting on Tuesday 5 May 2015.
Paul is the Return on Investment manager and Herbert is the International Business Development manager of the IMI UK. Paul research led to the development of the ROI apprentice calculator – an online tool for employer to determine the productivity of apprentices.
The presentation covered the need for the research, the process, the results and the access to the calculator; examples of return on investment in excess of 130%; application of the calculator to not only apprentices, but parts distributors, vehicle damage assessor and staff in managerial positions.
