The Department of Labour requested information about the statistics of the protest action that was lead by Cosatu on the 27 September 2017. We therefore circulate the LRA 9.2 form (attached hereto) to all the member companies that are affiliated to the RMI for further attention and action. Information about the accessibility of data will be used in support of Industrial Action Report, with the request of the International Labour Organisation and Department of Labour 205 (3) (a) (b) of Labour Relation Act 66 of 1995 (LRA). The Industrial Action report has one primary objective, to examine the labour dispute behaviours of the South African labour market and its impacts on the South African households. The report provides a detail account of companies affected by work stoppages and disaggregates information by province, duration, industries, nature and reasons of strike.

Information provided to the Department of Labour will be considered in support of our report. Please note that all written / emailed information that you provide will be included in the Industrial Action Report 2017. If you have questions about this request or would prefer to respond by phone, please contact Mhlengi Makhubela on email Strikes@labour.gov.zaMhlengi.Makhubela@labour.gov.za or phone: 012 309 4004 / 076 313 3094.
