This virtual interactive LPG training and development workshop is designed for those with an interest in the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) business. It is presented in two parts, spread over two days.

The first day will focus on safety, and the good industry practices that are needed to continue to keep the business safe. The programme is designed for all stakeholders in the LPG business, but particularly senior LPG managers, marketers, operators, administrators, and technical staff. It will also be of interest to government policy makers, regulators and other functions interested to understand more about how the LPG business operates. This first part will focus on some of the typical challenges facing today’s LPG business in order to keep it safe and sustainable.

The LPG Training Workshop will:

a) Discuss the importance of safety across the LPG business

b) Examine LPG as a safe and exceptional energy

c) Review and understand the importance of good cylinder management

d) Present some key business practices for the safe operation of a cylinder filling plant

e) Interrogate the issues associated with the illegal filling of cylinders and debate some of the mitigating measures to stop the practice

f) Discuss appropriate, fit for purpose, regulations, and standards

The second day will focus on the development of the LPG business. The programme is designed for all stakeholders in the LPG business, but particularly senior LPG managers, marketers, and administrators. It will also be of interest to government policy makers, and other functions interested to understand more about how the LPG industry can contribute to meeting social and development goals. There will be a description of the extent of LPG usage globally, regionally and in Southern Africa.

The LPG Development Workshop will also:

(a) Look at the potential for LPG supply and demand over the coming decade

(b) Examine some of the common demand drivers for LPG

(c) Describe the opportunities for LPG in meeting the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s)

(d) Discuss ways to develop LPG usage in the residential sector for cooking and water heating

(e) Describe typical infrastructure developments to deliver LPG in remote/rural areas

(f) Outline the power of effective marketing communications

(g) Present examples and case studies from other countries
