Retail Motor Industry launches fundraiser to assist Free State and Northern Cape Agricultural sector

Fundraiser

In response to the devastation caused by the widespread veld fires in the Northern Cape and Free State last month which resulted in huge losses of property, livestock and game, the Retail Motor Industry Organisation (RMI) in the Free State and Northern Cape Region has partnered with MedFM to spearhead a corporate fundraiser for the area.

Jacques Viljoen, RMI Regional Manager: Free State and Northern Cape,  says the agricultural sector is such a key driver of the economy in the region. “Not only has the sector been struggling with drought, but now the situation is compounded with the fires.  When we saw the GROOTPlaas Oes-Uit-Die-As Hulpfonds, launched by Kyknet’s Elsa Esterhuizen, we knew we had to get involved in some way and support our region,” he says.

RMI has accordingly partnered with medFM and will be running a series of awareness adverts and challenging RMI members, as well as other corporates and individuals over the next couple of weeks. Viljoen says all monies collected will go straight into the Fund created by GROOTplaas with no admin fees. They will ultimately be divided equally between Vrystaat Landbou, Agri Noord-Kaap and Agri Noordwes. The ultimate goal is to help reach the R500 000 target.

Viljoen says any corporate or individual who is able to donate can make a direct donation into the fund:

GROOT OMGEE PROJEK NPC

ABSA rek / acc nr: ‪409 754 3378

Branch / Takkode: 334510

Reference: Oes uit die as (RMI)

Information regarding the fundraiser will be aired daily on medFM’s afternoon drive show on weekdays between 15:00-17:30. You can tune into 104.1 FM or via their mobile app. People making donations should send their proof of payment to medFM’s WhatsApp line (068 541 8111) together with a message which will be read on air. “We are really encouraging people in our region to make a donation and challenge others to make a similar donation,” says Viljoen.
