RMI staff take up new roles

Rmi Logo

The RMI is delighted to inform our valued members that the RMI has successfully completed the re-allocation and re-assignment of staff portfolios, in pursuit of streamlining operations and introducing efficiencies.

The following changes came into effect from 01 May 2022:

-Vishal Premlall – Director TEPA and SAPRA

-Julian Pillay – Director VTA, KZN Regional Manager, Regulatory Compliance Manager

-Attie Serfontein – Director ARA & SAVABA

TEPA would like to take this opportunity to welcome the newly appointed National Director for TEPA, Vishal Premlall. Premlall is no stranger to the environment having held the reigns of TDAFA for four years between 2008-2012. He will be managing the TEPA environment concurrent to his existing portfolio as National Director of the South African Petroleum Retailers Association (SAPRA).

He has a vast knowledge of the automotive industry and has held many portfolios in the RMI structures over the last 15 years. You can view his full profile on his LinkedIn portfolio: (99+) Vishal Premlall | LinkedIn

Together with his team encompassing Marietjie Smith, Enrico Phillips and Moipone Nyambi, we have no doubt that SAPRA and TEPA is poised for great success.

The appointment of Premlall to this dual role follows the departure of Hedley Judd, who decided to take up opportunity within the tyre industry. Hedley has contributed tremendous value to TEPA over the years and will be sorely missed. The legacy that Hedley leaves behind is one where no hurdle is deemed impossible, the bar is now set for the team to take that legacy to new heights.

Attie Serfontein has been appointed as the new National Director of SAVABA, and he will drive dual portfolios, that of ARA (the Automotive Remanufacturers’ Association), and SAVABA.

Serfontein and Julian Pillay (his predecessor) have ensured that a smooth transitional phase was maintained insofar the handover process is concerned, and Serfontein has already concluded the necessary, and required meetings with both SAVABAs National EXCO Chairperson,

Mams Rehaman, as well as various other industry stakeholder meetings with likes of the NRCS, and SABS, gaining good traction to date. Without a doubt, Serfontein has big shoes to fill so to speak and is geared to take the Association forward to even greater heights, together with Team SAVABA (Nationally and Regionally).

The team is ready to work hard in order to achieve and surpass the objectives set out for 2022. SAVABA have also gained Thobile Gamede in terms of administrative support that remains strong-willed, skilled, passionate and a pleasure to work with.

Following his departure from SAVABA, Julian Pillay has also expanded his portfolio, which now includes the Director of the Vehicle Testing Association (VTA), the KZN Regional Manager and the Regulatory Compliance Manager.
