RMI supports Automechanika Johannesburg

Automechanika Joburg 2 Block

The Retail Motor Industry Organisation (RMI), which is the largest employers’ and business representative organisation in the South African retail motor industry with almost 8 200 members, is proud to again support Automechanika Johannesburg, South Africa’s leading international trade fair for the automotive service industry taking place at the Johannesburg Expo Centre, Nasrec, from 7-10 June 2022

This will be the seventh time that Messe Frankfurt’s world famous Automechanika brand has hosted a trade fair for the automotive aftermarket in Johannesburg.

For the first time this year, all eight of the RMI’s Constituent Associations will participate in the event. The Automotive Remanufacturers’ Association (ARA) will host a Nuts-and-Bolts conference, while the Motor Industry Workshop Association (MIWA), will host its annual National Executive Committee’s Conference. The RMI will be proudly represented with its own stand in Hall 6, stand number 6A12, focusing on Digitalisation and the Value of Belonging. It will also hold its Board of Directors’ meeting during the event on the site of the Show.

“The last two years have been extremely challenging for many businesses in the sector, in particular the small business owners,” commented Jakkie Olivier, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the RMI. “The RMI has managed exceptionally well in the past two years which has been marked with disruption, change and adaption to new and unique challenges.

“Throughout this time, the RMI and its Constituent Associations, have managed to stay focused and continued to perform exceptionally well. The last two years have taught us the importance of effective communication, of collaboration with peers and colleagues and the need to digitise many of our activities. We have needed to adapt and innovate to remain relevant and grow our businesses.

“Inspiring our employees and embracing the ‘human essence’ remains critical. We fully appreciate the importance of networking and the significant role it plays in our business. We thus welcome the opportunity presented by Automechanika to interact face-to-face with other business owners, industry stakeholders and product suppliers. It is an honour to be part of a worldwide professional automotive trade show which values the industry as much as we do,” concluded the RMI CEO.

“We are delighted to have the full support of the RMI and its Constituent Associations for our Automechanika Johannesburg trade fair, which was to have been staged in 2021, but was postponed to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Michael Dehn, CEO of Messe Frankfurt South Africa. “This year’s trade fair at the Expo Centre will be the ideal meeting place for members of the local and international motor industry to meet again in person and have the opportunity to view the latest innovative offerings in the global aftermarket and related service industries.”
