The President of the Republic of South Africa declared, in terms of the Public Holidays’ Act (1994), 1 November 2021 as a public holiday, throughout the country in connection with the conducting of local government elections.
Members are advised that the public holiday is unconditional and applies to voting and non-voting citizens alike. Members are reminded that special rates of pay applies to employees working on a public holiday.
