The Department of Environmental Affairs has provisionally withdrawn the REDISA plan. TDAFA confirms that the RMI submitted a Waste Tyre Management Plan, in line with the regulations, to the Department of Environmental Affairs on the 21st December 2011 and thereupon await feedback. The RMI further recommended a consolidated industry approach to Waste Tyre Management, wherein all role players are engaged to prepare a sustainable and workable plan for South Africa.
For now members must remain mindful that Waste Management is imminent, not just here, but worldwide, and must accordingly prepare to comply with a plan going forward. The RMI will advise its members on any further developments.
